Sustainable, efficient production serving the entire population

Project inputs

We aim to sustainably transform Madagascar by promoting multi-dimensional inclusiveness in all project processes: energy, infrastructure and socio-economic growth.

Productivity

With an average production capacity of 750 GWH/year,, Volobe Amont will generate electricity that meets approximately 35% of current national consumption. We are gradually contributing to the country’s energy independence.

Beneficiaries

Nearly 360,000 households – the equivalent of 2 million persons – will have access to reliable electricity, improving their quality of life.

Decarbonization

A significant contribution to the climate change effort, by significantly reducing GHG emissions. Following the project study, 15 million tons of CO2 emissions will be avoided thanks to the operationalization of the Volobe Amont hydropower plant.

Our commitment to sustainability and inclusiveness

The Volobe Amont project embodies a model of public-private partnership, designed to make Madagascar’s energy transition a reality. By promoting renewable energies, we are helping to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and lay the foundations for a cleaner, more resilient energy future.

Through the Volobe amont hydroelectric scheme, we will produce sustainable energy to electrify several areas of the country, while supporting the socio-economic growth of local communities.

Inclusive impact

Beyond our main mission – to produce green, sustainable energy, we aim to transform local socio-economic dynamics.

Through :

  • Enhancing skills during the various phases of the project, particularly the building and exploitation phases.
  • Training and skills-building programs to prepare local residents for sustainable opportunities.
  • Strengthening local infrastructure, such as roads and basic facilities.

A step forward

Energy is a central pillar of economic and social development. With Volobe amont, we are paving the way for an improvement that will affect many areas :

  • Access to reliable electricity, a catalyst for education, health and local entrepreneurship.
  • Revitalization of the local economic fabric.
  • A potential reduction in long-term energy production costs, boosting business competitiveness.
  • A model for national energy transition, with reduced negative impact on the environment.

We listen to you

Transparency and access to information are at the core of our approach. We are committed to keeping you informed about the main stages of the project and to providing you with clarifications on the various issues related to the project, the impacts and the spin-offs on the communities.
